Biography

David grew up in Dickinson and is a 1983 graduate of Dickinson High School. He attended North Dakota State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1987. After college, David worked in the areas of banking and mortgage lending in the San Francisco Bay Area until 1992, at which time he returned to North Dakota to attend law school at the University of North Dakota. While attending law school, David worked as a law clerk at the law firm of Vaaler, Warcup, Woutat, Zimney & Foster. David graduated with distinction from University of North Dakota School of Law in 1995.

David was admitted to the Arizona Bar in 1995. He was subsequently admitted to practice law in Colorado in 1996 and began working at the law office of David J. Birk, P.C. in Aurora, Colorado. In 1997, David accepted a position as an associate attorney with the law firm of Riggs, Abney, Neal, Turpen, Orbison & Lewis in Denver, Colorado, where he practiced primarily in the areas of personal injury, family law, workers' compensation, and civil litigation.

While living in Denver, David met and married his wife, Joan, a Bismarck native. David and Joan moved to Bismarck in 2005 with their two young children. David left the law firm of Riggs, Abney, Neal, Turpen, Orbison & Lewis at that time and started the Law Office of David M. Knoll, through which he continued to practice primarily in the areas of personal injury, family law, and civil litigation. David joined Larson Latham Huettl as a partner in October of 2009.
David is licensed to practice law in all state courts in North Dakota, Colorado, and Arizona, as well as the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. David's practice is concentrated in the areas of personal injury, family law, business, and civil litigation.
